19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts
A resurgent Medvedev secured his maiden championship for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.
Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a difficult period, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in specific - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-term mentor his previous coach.
Presently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set victory over opponent Moutet.
This represents his initial title after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court after spring of that year.
Success also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to get a trophy is really nice," said tennis professional the champion.
"This championship is in honour of my child her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.
The player's retrieving approach and regular outbursts on the tennis court had led some to question if his ability to compete at the highest level was over.
But the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.
The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the last five points to gain the advantage.
The competitors exchanged service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his first tour victory, took control to push for a decider.
He saved four initial chances in a close third set before Medvedev broke to that score to secure the win.
Appropriately, he clinched the title with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
